In the pipeline full with fluid, a throttling elements- orifice plateis installed. When the fluid flows, static pressure difference occurs on both upstream and downstream sides.
If the uncalibrated throttling device is similar with the calibrated one in the structure, also the operating condition, then the numerical relationship between the static pressure difference and the fluid flow can be obtained according to Continuity Equation and Bernoulli’s Equation based on the known specifications. The numerical relationship mentioned above can be calculated by the following equations:
By using differential pressure transmitter or gauge, the differential pressure value ▲P is converted into standard current signal or aero-pneumatic signal to show the flow or volume of the fluid on the displaying instruments.
Differential pressure type flow instrument consists of the throttling device, pilot pressure piping and differential pressure gauge or transmitter.
